A temporary residence permit for work in Poland (karta czasowego pobytu) — is the right to live in Poland and work for the employer named in the permit.
The right is confirmed by a residence card. The permit is issued for up to 3 years. Processing usually takes from several months to a year — it depends on the voivodeship. From 27 April 2026 the application is filed via MOS only (mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl): paper filing at the office is no longer accepted. How to obtain a residence card for work in Poland
The time to obtain a temporary residence permit in Poland depends on the voivodeship and the set of documents. Often it is from 3 to 9 months, sometimes longer. You can file for a work-based residence permit while you are in Poland on a lawful basis.

We will prepare the pack: the contract, scans, a digital photo, the employer’s data. We will connect MOS — Profil Zaufany or a qualified electronic signature.
We will help the employer fill in and sign appendix 1 electronically in MOS. Without that signature the application cannot be submitted.
We will file the application in MOS. Booking a paper filing appointment is no longer possible. We will accompany you to the appointment: fingerprints, a signature specimen and the passport.

If the decision is positive we will help you collect a residence card for work. The term is up to 3 years, usually according to the contract. Waiting depends on the voivodeship.

Conditions for obtaining a work-based residence permit in Poland
We will check whether you meet the conditions and prepare the filing:
- Work in Poland: an employment contract (umowa o pracę or umowa zlecenie) and pay not below the minimum gross.
- A place of residence in Poland (a rental agreement and so on).
- An application in MOS and appendix 1, signed by the employer electronically. Fingerprints — in person at the office summons.

Which documents are needed for a residence card on the basis of work
We will gather and check the pack with you. The list may be extended at the office’s request: each case is reviewed individually. From 27 April 2026 the basic documents are loaded into MOS, not carried in a stack to the department.
- Passport: digital copies of all pages; the original is shown at the summons appointment.
- The application is filled in in MOS (not a paper wniosek from the voivodeship website).
- A digital photo (not a set of 4 paper pictures 3.5 × 4.5 cm).
- The previous residence card (if you have one) — a scan.
- The employment contract (a scan; the original may be needed at the appointment).
- Appendix 1: the employer fills it in and signs electronically in MOS.
- Oświadczenie / opinia starosty — if the law requires it for your post.
- Medical insurance — ZUA + UPP, RCA + UPP (as a rule for the last 3 months).
- Documents on the employer’s solvency: CIT-8 or a balance sheet for the previous year — if they are requested.
- A ZUS certificate of no arrears of the employer.
- A certificate from the tax office of no arrears of the applicant as an individual.
- A document on qualifications — if applicable.
- A certificate from the tax office of no arrears of the hiring company.
- Payment: the fee for reviewing the case and the card fee — electronic proof of payment in MOS.
If family members are included in the application, additionally:
- ZUS ZCNA.
- A marriage certificate with a sworn translation into Polish.
- The spouse’s employment contract, if any.
- The child’s birth certificate with a sworn translation.
- The child’s school ID (kindergarten, nursery and so on).
What opportunities a residence card for work gives
We will help you obtain a work-based residence permit — one of the most frequent ways of legalising a foreign worker in Poland. It gives the right to work officially for the named employer and live in the country.
With a residence card you can stay in Schengen without a visa for up to 90 days in six months (with no right to work there), use healthcare with insurance, study, rent and buy property.
You need to confirm official work with a Polish employer: the post, the terms and pay not below the country minimum. Appendix 1 is signed by the employer in MOS. In some cases opinia starosty is still needed — unless there is an exemption (work experience in Poland, a shortage occupation and so on).
The application is filed via MOS only, while you are in Poland on a lawful basis. Paper filing at the voivodeship office is no longer accepted. It makes sense not to leave sending to the last day of the visa: the employer must have time to sign the appendix.
The permit is usually issued for the term of the contract, but for no longer than 3 years. Then a new application is needed. After 5 years of lawful stay and work you can apply for an EU long-term resident card.
